About the Workshop in Vancouver, BC.

Pointed pen calligraphy is a beautiful and intricate art form, using nibs and ink to make letters from carefully executed strokes. While nib and ink can be intimidating at first, this workshop will teach you the basics through a combination of instruction, demonstration and hand movement exercises that will help you build confidence in this special art form.

  • Introduction to the tools needed for pointed pen calligraphy.

  • Learn how to prepare your nib and tools for calligraphy.

  • Comparison between Modern Calligraphy and Traditional Calligraphy.

  • Warm up exercises followed by basic strokes and drills.

  • Lowercase and uppercase letters and variations.

  • Connecting letters to words.

  • Practicing tricky connections and common ligatures.

  • Connecting uppercase letters to lowercase letters

  • Simple flourishing that you can add to your letters
